Main Entrance & Library Murals at Morrow Elementary

Main Entrance and Library Murals at Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School
Two murals painted to brighten the hallways of Andrew T. Morrow Elementary school in Islandia, NY. Entryway mural Design by Jeffrey Espinoza. Library Mural Design by Sage Cotignola. Painted by the Tiny Collective and students at Morrow Elementary.
This mural was painted just inside the main entrance of the school to welcome students, staff and families.
The mural reflects the school colors to instill a sense of community and places emphasis on inclusivity.
The following mural was painted in the hallway outside of the school library.
This design expresses positivity towards literacy and learning with an inclusive and welcoming energy mirroring the Main Entrance mural.
It is important that children are able to see themselves in what they read, as it allows their worlds to expand. A joyful approach to books and literacy can aid students across subjects, help them find their unique voices and allow them to tell their own stories in turn.
Third graders at Morrow Elementary were invited to take part in the painting process. In addition to the hands-on learning, students learned about murals throughout history around the globe.
